GREENVILLE, SC – April 27, 2025 – Greenville Literacy Association (GLA) has been awarded a $55,000 grant from Power:Ed, the philanthropy of SC Student Loan Corporation, to sustain and expand its College and Career Navigator (CCN) program. This funding will provide individualized support for adult learners as they transition into postsecondary education or the workforce, serving approximately 400 students over the next year.

The CCN plays a vital role in guiding students through academic planning, career assessments, digital and financial literacy, and real-world career exploration. Through partnerships with Greenville Technical College’s Quick Jobs program, SC Works, and TalentRise GVL, students will be connected with education and training opportunities that align with their goals.

“With Power:Ed’s investment, we can ensure our students don’t just earn credentials while they are with us but also remain supported and connected to pathways for lifelong success,” said GLA Executive Director Victoria Novak. “This grant allows us to strengthen college and career navigation, implement better systems to track outcomes, and keep students engaged long after they leave our classrooms.”

The grant will sustain GLA’s CCN position while expanding its impact through career readiness workshops, student engagement incentives, and professional development opportunities. Funding will also support the implementation of innovative tracking tools to connect alumni with ongoing job opportunities and resources. In addition, GLA will collaborate with consultants to design a best-practices framework for college and career pathways, ensuring consistent follow-up and long-term success for students beyond the classroom.

“The pathway from literacy to long-term success requires intentional support and connections to education and workforce opportunities,” said Power:Ed Executive Director Claire Gibbons. “We are proud to continue partnering with GLA and TalentRise GVL to help learners achieve not just academic milestones, but also life-changing career outcomes.”

Power:Ed plans to award $1,325,000 in grants to South Carolina education and career readiness organizations in FY2025-26. In this first fiscal quarter, Power:Ed awarded five grants, including this grant to GLA, totaling $211,500. Grants are administered quarterly, and the next grant funding deadline is October 1, 2025.
