Boosting college and career readiness with Kids On Point

What We Do

Kids On Point partners with students from elementary through high school, providing consistent academic support, mentorship, and access to experiences that expand opportunity and strengthen long-term outcomes. Working primarily in Charleston area Title I schools, the program addresses a critical gap: while many students graduate, far fewer are fully prepared for what comes next.

Through afterschool and summer programming, students receive individualized support, meaningful mentorship, and exposure to new possibilities that build both confidence and direction. Grounded in long-term relationships, students often remain engaged from 3rd through 12th grade—driving measurable academic growth and sustained success over time.

The Problem We’re Solving

Too many students, particularly those in under-resourced communities, lose ground during out-of-school hours and over the summer. Without consistent support, enrichment, and access to opportunity, the gap between potential and preparedness widens. Kids On Point exists to close that gap through sustained, relationship-driven investment in each student’s growth.

What Power:Ed’s Investment Has Made Possible

Power:Ed has invested $157,000 in Kids On Point to expand college and career access for middle and high school students, strengthen afterschool and summer programming, and support growth in North Charleston. This investment has increased access to high-quality programming, deepened consistency of support, and enabled more students to stay engaged, achieve academic gains, and build the skills needed for long-term success.

The Outcomes

The impact is both measurable and meaningful. Kids On Point serves 527 students annually through afterschool and summer programming with plans to double that reach. Ninety-one percent of students remain engaged from 3rd through 12th grade, reflecting the strength of the relationships and community built over time. One hundred percent of Kids On Point students graduate high school and are college and career ready.
